In an interview to PTI, Chauhan demanded strict laws to implement fake and minimal pesticides and soil health cards to ensure the use of balanced fertilizers.
The ministers, who led the Agricultural Campaign (developed agricultural campaign) in the country for 6 to 15 days across the country, said that the previous reach of Kharif Sowing will help to refine policies and research schemes to promote agricultural production.
According to the third Third of the Agriculture Ministry, India’s food production recorded 888.6 million tonnes in the Kharif season of 224-55. The salty foodgrain output has increased by 31.23 percent from 1-15-6-15.
“The ongoing campaign will help to further boost agricultural production in the kharif season as we are trying to look into the problems of the farmers and are trying to educate them about new technologies and methods,” Chauhan said.
During the visit of 10 states so far, the Minister said that the existing crop varieties in some areas have resisted emerging insects. Farmers also expressed concern about fake pesticides and gained more protection during pricing crashes. Research plans and policies for short, medium and long -term implementation will be developed on the basis of input, he said. “With these efforts, as well as good rains, good rains should help to achieve a new record in Kharif Foodgrain production in 225-66,” Chauhan said.
Sowing of kharif crops like paddy starts from the beginning of the monsoon in July. This year, the monsoon rains are estimated to be normal.
The India Metroological Department (IMD) has predicted the general nasty monsoon above the entire season (June to September).
Monsoon progress was stalled since May 26, and the IMD is estimated that the south -west monsoon is likely to grow in central and eastern India between June 12 and 18 June 2025.
While the farmers were preparing their fields for sowing kharif, Chauhan said that the farmers complained of at least pesticides in the market.
He said, “We need to create a rigorous law to look into this thing. Now they run away from paying some penalties. We should bring a rigorous law to punish those involved in selling poor/minimal pesticides,” he said.
On the production of pulses and oilseeds, the output has improved, but India is still far away to obtain self -reliance and reduce import dependence.
The government is working from the point of view of a mission, distributing good quality seeds, and while confirming the purchase, the farmers are teaching on good methods. These efforts will be intensified to relieve the gap in income, he said.
To solve the gap of per hectare income, the government is identifying 100 districts under the Prime Minister’s Dhan Dhanan Krishi Yojana Scheme. “The schemes are being converted and started soon,” Chauhan said.
